After many years working in the IT industry, Tony Giardina knew it was time for a change. He had always dreamed of creating an authentic Italian coffee shop where fresh food and good coffee could always be guaranteed, just like the coffee shops back in his family’s home town in Sicily. He wanted to create a special place, that would be central to the community where as well as good food and good coffee you could be guaranteed a warm welcome and personal service, so often lacking in the larger chains.

In August 2004, Tony realized his dream and opened Il Chicco. Situated at the bottom of the CI Tower right next door to New Malden Station, Tony’s coffee shop, later re-named Chicco Caffè has been described as New Malden’s best kept secret. Families and children love coming to Chicco and lots of business people choose the Caffe for meetings too. The atmosphere is light and airy and very comfortable.

Tony is passionate about customer feedback and invites people daily let him know what they think ‘ the good, the bad and the ugly.’ Tony also regularly commissions independent research and this is just a small example of what Chicco’s customers say:
